sEaComms is a new system developed specifically for assessing Maritime English proficiency, using tests that cover the oral and written ability of seafarers to communicate accurately and efficiently.

  • The tests are comprised of questions that reference IMO Model Course 3.17 and the phrase vocabulary prescribed in the IMO Standard Maritime Communication Phrases (SMCP).
  • The tests are organized according to the STCW levels of responsibility: Support, Operational and Management, for deck and engine departments as well as tests for auxiliary personnel.
